In a mineral processing plant, it is critical to maintain reliability and efficiency of the data that we extract from instruments implemented. With any digital transition and automation program, access to continuous, accurate real-time data becomes more important. Additionally, the digital transition program at Barrick Cortez aimed to eliminate manual tasks that posed a danger to our personnel. At Cortez manual collection of moisture samples posed both a safety hazard and industrial hygiene hazards. Furthermore, the delay in moisture analysis results impacted production and posed a risk to our permit to operate. It was vital to know the moisture levels in order to maintain our environmental permit on daily processed tons. This paper discusses the selection criteria for online moisture analyzer, the implementation, commissioning, the accuracy, how the data is currently being utilized, and the benefits gained since installation of this moisture analyzer.
