GEOSCAN-R

Recycling operations handle mixed, variable and often contaminated streams where small composition changes can affect product value, buyer acceptance or downstream process performance. GEOSCAN-R continuously measures recycled material chemistry on the conveyor, helping operators identify contamination, improve stream classification, protect product quality and reduce downgrade risk.

Key Benefits

Maintain consistent recycled material quality

Reduce reliance on delayed laboratory results

Detect and respond to material variability early

Enable data driven operational decisions

Identify contamination within recycled material streams

Proven Performance

The GEOSCAN-R is deployed globally across recycling applications, delivering reliable performance in demanding environments

Continuous operation in harsh industrial conditions

No wear parts, resulting in low maintenance requirements

Proven performance across a wide range of recycled materials

Supported by a global service and support network

Technology

GEOSCAN-R uses Prompt Gamma Neutron Activation Analysis (PGNAA) to measure elemental composition across the full conveyed flow of recycled materials. The measurement approach is suited to variable, segregating and heterogeneous streams where surface inspection or small samples may not represent the bulk material.

Applications

Typical applications within recycling operations include:

  • Scrap metal quality monitoring
  • Non-ferrous metal recycling
  • Contamination detection
  • Blend and additive control
  • Resource recovery process optimisation

Role in Process Control

The GEOSCAN-R operates as part of a broader measurement and control strategy within recycling operations.

It enables:

  • Feed forward control of downstream recycling and recovery processes
  • Feedback control of blending and material preparation
  • Continuous monitoring of recycled material quality and composition
  • Continuous decision support for operators managing material variability

Unique Capabilities

  • Customised specification for different applications
  • Measures conveyed flows as well as statically for packaged materials (big bags, drums, crates, pallets, bales, etc)
  • Custom calibrations developed for specific materials and operating requirements
  • Proven in base metals, precious metals, e-waste, black mass, batteries
  • Proven on steel corded and chlorine containing conveyors
  • Non-contact with conveyor or material
