History |
| The original company, Mineral Control Instrumentation, was founded in1981 and was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1987. Since that time, our business has focussed on high technology on-line analysis systems for the resource sector. Our activities are predominantly in the mining and, more recently, the cement industry,with the provision of technology and associated services. |

Some awards the company has won include:
- 1984: The Research and Development Magazine Award to the On-Line Ash Measurement System as one of the 100 Most Significant new technology products of the year
- 1985: Sir Ian McLennon Achievement for Industry Award, won jointly with the CSIRO to recognise the commercial development of the COALSCAN 4500
- 1994: Electronics Association of South Australia Gold Cup for excellence in commercialisation and engineering of the COALSCAN9500 On-Line Elemental Analyser.

Dr Howarth, along with three CSIRO scientists, won the prestigious Australia Prize in 1992. This award formally recognised the excellence of the COALSCAN range of analysers.
The Prime Minister presented the award for scientific achievement to Dr Howarth, Dr Sowerby, Mr Watt and Dr Cutmore for developing and commercialising instruments for the on line analysis of minerals and coal.
In 1996 the company received the BVQI Certificate of Approval for ISO Quality Assurance Standard 9001.
By early 1996, the scope of the company's activities had expanded to the extent that some corporate re-organisation became necessary. The listed entity became Scantech Limited. |
